GRANTHAM, PA – The York College men's swim team remained red hot as the Spartans rolled past Messiah 125-85 in a non-conference meet in Grantham, PA on Wednesday night.
The Spartans improved to 6-1 overall as they have won five straight. The Falcons fall to 3-2.
The Spartans picked up six individual first place finishes and one relay victory in the win.
The Spartans began the night with a convincing win in the 200 medley relay as the foursome of Morgan Schreiber (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), Kyle Walthall (Port Hueneme, Calif./Rio Mesa), Cody Latchford (New Castle, Del./William Penn), and Shane Bonner (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) cruised to a time of 1:39.59.
Walthall earned an individual win in the 1000 free as he completed the race in a time of 10:31.11 as he won the race by over 12 seconds. Teammate Matthew Terrell (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) placed third to pick up three points for the Green and White.
Latchford earned the next Spartan win as he was victorious in the 200 free, posting a winning time of 1:50.87. Tim DeCoursey (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) earned a third place finish for the Green and White as he notched a time of 1:53.08.
Schreiber earned another win for York as he won the 200 IM in a time of 2:05.65. David Altobelli (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake) earned a third place finish for the Green and White.
Bonner earned a first place finish in the 100 fly as he touched the wall in a time of 56.48.
Terrell picked up a second place finish in the 100 free, finishing with a time of :50.80, just .37 seconds out of first place. DeCoursey earned a third place finish for York in the race.
Schreiber earned his second victory of the night when he cruised to a win in the 100 backstroke, finishing with a time of 54.16. Altobelli earned another third place finish with his time of 59.50.
Walthall registered a second place finish in the 500 free as he recorded a time of 5:04.49, finishing just .64 seconds out of first. Latchford was right behind his teammate as he placed third with a time of 5:04.68.
Sophomore Donald Timmerman (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) earned York's final win of the night, as he was victorious in the 100 breaststroke, winning the race in a time of 1:04.77. Byrne posted a third place finish for the Green and White in the event with a time of 1:06.68, a mere .02 seconds out of second place.
The Spartans' 200 freestyle relay squad placed second in their race, notching a time of 1:32.92.
The Green and White retuns to action on Saturday to cap a very busy week. The Spartans travel to Washington and Jefferson for a non-conference dual meet. The meet is slated for a 1:00 pm start in Washington, Pa.
