YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis squad picked up their third win of the fall campaign with a 7-2 non-conference win over Immaculata on Saturday in York.
The Spartans improve to 3-1 overall while the Mighty Macs fall to 8-4.
The Green and White got off to a strong start in doubles play as the Spartans swept the three contests. The Spartan tandem of Katie Wagner (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) and Darian Naill (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) rolled to an 8-0 first doubles win. Emily Price (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Megan Jones (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) recorded an 8-3 second doubles victory for York. Mckenzie Krout (York, Pa./Red Lion) and Emily Skutnik (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) concluded the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory.
Wagner kept the beat going in the first singles match as she rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 win as she improves to 4-0. Price notched an easy 6-1, 6-1 second singles victory as the Spartans controlled the match.
The Mighty Macs got a three set win at the third singles match but Krout recorded a three-set win in the fourth singles match for the Green and White. Skutnik picked up a three-set win of her own in the fifth singles match to account for the seventh Spartan win on the day.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, October 11 when they travel to Goucher to face the Gophers in a non-conference match. The contest is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
