YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team closed
out their 2010 Capital Athletic Conference regular season with a
9-0 conference win over St. Mary's College on a sunny Sunday
afternoon in York.
The Spartans improve to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the CAC while the
Seahawks fall to 10-7 overall and 2-3 in the league.
The Spartans posted a trio of 8-3 wins in doubles play to get
the Spartans off to a good start. Colin Jones (Felton,
Pa./Red Lion) and Travis Klein (East Stroudsburg,
Pa./Pocono Mountain East) notched the first doubles
victory while Justin Hostetter (Lincoln University,
Pa./Oxford Area) and Ryan Harvey (Fallston,
Md./Fallston) combined to notch the second doubles win.
Philip Myers (York, Pa./William Penn) and
James Villari (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) were
the victorious duo in the third doubles contest.
In singles, Paul Graci (Exton, Pa./Bishop
Shanahan) posted the 6-2, 6-4 victory and he was followed
by Steve Collison (Westville, N.J./Woodbury) as
the senior won the second singles 6-0, 6-4. Jones cruised at third
singles, winning 6-1, 6-2. Klein also was impressive as he won 6-1,
6-0 in the fourth singles contest. Hostetter recorded a solid 6-3,
6-0 win at fifth singles while Harvey completed the sweep with a
6-1, 6-2 win at the final singles match up.
The Spartans close out their regular season on Monday with a
non-conference match against Messiah in York. The contest is slated
for a 4:00 pm start.
