HARRISBURG, PA – The York College men's tennis squad
tallied their third win of the 2010 season on Friday afternoon,
besting host Penn St. Harrisburg 8-1. The Spartans up their
campaign mark to 3-5 while Harrisburg drops to .500 at 3-3.
York began the afternoon with a trio of doubles-match wins.
Senior captains Paul Graci (Exton, Pa./Bishop
Shanahan) and Steve Collison (Westville,
N.J./Woodbury) had a tough go in first doubles as they
squared off with John Dixon and Arsene de Conde. However, the Green
and White prevailed 9-7 as Graci and Collison nabbed their fifth
triumph of the season.
Colin Jones (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) and
Travis Klein (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain
East) combined in the second slot for an 8-0 win.
Ryan Harvey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and
Justin Hostetter (Lincoln University, Pa./Oxford
Area) also tallied an 8-0 victory in the third position.
York notched five more triumphs in singles, each by straight set
victories. Collison backed up his doubles win with a 6-0, 6-0
second singles victory. Jones won 6-0, 6-2 in the third slot while
Klein registered the 6-1, 6-0 fourth singles win.
Hostetter and Harvey each won their singles matches, fifth and
sixth respectively, by 6-1, 6-0 counts.
The Spartans will have little time to enjoy their victory
however, as York is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, March 20.
The Green and White welcome Gettysburg as the non-conference tilt
kicks off at 1:00 p.m.
