ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York
College women's tennis team fell 6-3 to host St. Mary's
Thursday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action. The
Spartans drop to 3-10 (2-3 CAC) on the season while the Seahawks
improve to 11-6 (3-2 CAC).
All three Spartan points came via singles
matches as the Green and White took the fourth, fifth, and sixth
slots.
Megan Logan (West Chester, Pa./West
Chester East), who has performed well throughout the
season, took the fourth singles match by a clean 6-0, 6-0 result.
Logan's win bumps her up to 8-3, as she owns the
Spartans' top individual record in 2009.
Sophomore Stephanie Nelson
(Marriottsville, Md./Liberty), who has also put in a
strong showing during the 2009 campaign, captured the fifth slot
6-1, 6-0. Nelson secured her sixth win of the year Thursday as she
stands at 6-4 on the year.
Samantha Brenner (Mount Airy, Md./South
Carroll) won the sixth singles match in three sets (6-3,
3-6, 6-1). The victory gives the Spartan rookie the second win of
her career.
York returns to action on Friday, April 17, as
they host Stevenson University in their final regular season match
of the season. The conference tilt is slated for a 3:30 pm start.
