SALISBURY, MD – The York College women's tennis team
suffered a 9-0 loss to regionally ranked Salisbury University in
Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon in
Salisbury, MD. The Sea Gulls are ninth in the regional rankings and
improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the CAC. The Spartans have lost
five straight and fall to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Spartans best showing in doubles came from the tandem of
Heidi Acker (Narvon, Pa./Pequea Valley) and
Keturah Buchanan (York, Pa./William Penn) as they
dropped an 8-5 decision in the second doubles match.
In singles play, The Sea Gulls rolled to straight set wins in
all six contests. The Spartans did not take more than two games in
any of the six matches.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday, April 2 when they
travel to Goucher College to face the Gophers in a non-conference
contest. The match is slated to start at 3:00 pm.
