SALISBURY, MD – The York College men's tennis team
suffered a 9-0 Capital Athletic Conference loss to regionally
ranked Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon in Salisbury, MD.
The Sea Gulls, who are ranked seventh in the region, improve to 7-4
overall and 1-0 in the CAC. The Spartans fall to 4-7 overall and
1-2 in the CAC.
The Sea Gulls posted solid wins in the doubles action as they
won the number one doubles match 8-2 and the second doubles 8-4.
The Spartans' third doubles team of Steve Collison
(Westville, N.J./Woodbury) and Paul Graci (Exton,
Pa./Bishop Shanahan) extended the third doubles match
before the Sea Gulls' tandem of Sasha Felikson and David
Lupinetti notched an 8-5 win.
There wasn't much good news for the Spartans in singles
play as the Sea Gulls captured five of the six singles matches in
straight sets. Graci extended the third singles match to three sets
before falling 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.
The Spartans return to action on Monday when they travel to
Messiah College to face the Falcons in a non-conference contest.
The match is slated to begin at 3:30 pm.
