YORK, PA – On a crisp Monday afternoon,
the York College women's tennis team fell 6-3 to Lebanon
Valley. The loss drops the Spartans record to 1-5 on the year while
the Dutchmen improve to an impressive 15-3, including the fall
campaign.
The trio of Spartan victories
belonged to junior Megan Logan (West Chester, Pa./West
Chester East) and sophomore Stephanie Nelson
(Marriottsville, Md./Liberty). They each won their singles
matches before teaming up to take the third doubles contest.
Logan took her fifth win of the season in the Spartans'
fifth slot courtesy of a 6-2, 6-1 triumph. The junior's
singles win improves her 2009 record to 5-1.
Nelson added another win to her
flawless record this season, as she now sits at 5-0 for the season.
Nelson registered at 6-4, 6-2 victory over the Dutchmen's Jan
White in the sixth slot.
In doubles action, Logan and Nelson
combined for the first time this season. The pair proved to be a
solid team as they dropped LVC's Sammy Burkey and Sara Wagner
by an 8-3 count.
The Spartans return to the court on
Thursday, March 26, as they travel to Gettysburg for a 4:00 pm
non-conference match with the Bullets.
