YORK,
PA - The York College Spartans men's swimming team extended
their win streak to eight as they continue on their season record
of 8-1 (5-1). Gallaudet and Penn State-Altoona
were the latest foes to be handed defeats by the Green and White,
174-29 and 154-48, respectively.
Spartan men accounted for seven of the nine
individual victories, and collected first place in both relays on
the night. While securing the seven individual wins, no swimmers
garnered more than one individual victory.
The night started off strong for the Spartans
as they secured the top two positions in the 200 yard Medley
Relay. The Green and White relay team of Junior
AJ Bean (Ijamsville, Md./ Urbana), Steve
Tobin (Estell Manor, NJ./ Holy Spirit), Clark
Arnold (York, Pa./ Northeastern), and Tom
DeCoursey (Cherry Hill, NJ./ Cherry Hill West) sped off to
a time of 1:41.15.

place in the 1,000 yard freestyle event. Yeager won the event by
pacing his way to a 10:29.49.
York swept the first three places of the 50
yard freestyle event. Leading the Spartans to victory was
Ben Hilt (Mt. Joy, Pa./Hempfield) with a time of
22.63. Hilt was followed by Will McLennan (Sparks, Md./
Calvert Hall) and Adam Willier (Pottsville, Pa./
Pottsville Area) to complete the Green and White 1-2-3.
Steve Mercer (Rockville, Md./ The
Heights School) took home the top spot in the 200 yard
Individual Medley with a time of 2:06.04. Following Mercer was
senior Andy Demarest (Galloway, NJ. / Abesegami)
with a time of 2:07.88.
One of York's promising freshman talents
earned a victory in the 100 yard butterfly. York county product
Andy Woods (York, Pa./ Dover Area) swam to a time
of 55.54, just .39 seconds ahead of Arnold.
Sophomore Alex Diehl (Pottstown, Pa./
Owen J. Roberts) was victorious in the 100 yard freestyle
event, racing to a win with a time of 51.07 seconds.
Fresh off of a pool record in the 200
backstroke, Bean returned to action in fitting style taking first
place in the 100 yard version of the event with a time of 57.02.
Finishing off the individual events for the
night was Tobin. In his efforts the Spartan junior recorded a time
of 1:03.57 in the 100 yard breaststroke.
The last event of the night ended the way it
all began, with another Green and White relay
victory. The team of DeCoursey, Arnold,
McLennan, and Hilt raced their way to a win in the 200 yard
freestyle relay.
The Spartans return to action following an
extended winter break with action in Collegeville, Pa against
Ursinus. The meet on January 16 is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start
