ARLINGTON, VA – The York College women's swim team
dropped a tough 105-100 Capital Athletic Conference decision to
Marymount University in Arlington, VA on Saturday afternoon. The
Spartans fall to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the CAC while the Saints
improve to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
The Spartans had four individual first place
finishes. Sophomore Heather MacLennan (Galena, Md./St.
Mark's) earned York's two first place finishes
in the meet as she won the 50 free in a solid time of :25.89. She
was also victorious in the 200 backstroke, recording a time of
2:11.70.Freshman Chelsea Ross (Paoli, Pa./PA
Cyber) won the 200 free with a time of 2:01.93.
Michaela Guild (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti)
was victorious in the 500 free, touching the wall in the time of
5:35.19.
York's 400 free relay team of
Ashley Stanton (Columbia, Md./Hammond),
Alison Beverly (Andover, N.J./Newton), Ross, and
MacLennan combined to win the event, posting a time of 3:50.50.
Stanton notched a pair of runner up finishes
in the meet. The senior was second in the 200 free, finishing
behind Ross with a time of 2:06.76. She then was second in the 100
free as she completed the race in a time of :58.43.
Guild also notched a second place finish as
she was the runner up in the 1000 free with a time of 11:37.42.
Junior Lisa King (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright)
banged out a second in the 200 fly, recording a time of 2:25.93.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday,
November 21 when they travel to St. Mary's College. The
Capital Athletic Conference meet is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start.
