YORK, PA-The York College women's swim team dropped a
narrow 135-127 non-conference loss to Ursinus College on Saturday
afternoon in York. The Spartans fall to 6-6 overall while the Bears
improve to 5-3 with the win.
Prior to the meet, the Spartans honored their three seniors as
Bridget Miller (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's),
Colleen Nolan (Annandale, Va./Annandale), and
Meghan Wallace (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen) were
participating in the final home meet of their college careers.
While it was the seniors who were being honored before the meet, it
was duo of Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring Grove)
and Lisa King (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) that
kept the Spartans in the meet. Wasik earned a trio of victories as
she won the 100 back in a time of of 1:05.87, the 200 backstroke in
a school record time of 2:19.22 and completed the hat trick with a
victory in the 200 IM as she clocked in with a time of 2:23.87.
King notched a pair of wins during the day, as she was victorious
in the 200 fly and the 100 fly. She traversed the pool in the 200
fly in a time of 2:22.54 while her 100 fly time was 1:04.17. King
also picked up a runner-up finish in the 200 IM as she recorded a
time of of 2:25.73.
Freshman Liz Grey (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy)
earned a win in 50 free, posting a time of 26.79. Grey also earned
a pair of runner-up finishes as she was second in the 100 free and
the 100 fly.
Freshman Michaela Guild (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent
Pallotti) posted a pair of second place finishes as she
was runner-up in the 1000 free and the 200 free. Ashley
Stanton (Columbia, Md./Hammond) earned York's other
second place finish as she touched the wall second in the 50
free.
The Spartans' 400 freestyle relay team composed of
Allison Brophy (Reading, Pa./Reading), Miller,
Guild and Grey won their event to close out the meet. Ursinus
finished second and third in the race as the Bears captured the
meet victory.
York returns to action on Saturday when they close out their
regular season with a trip to Frostburg State. The season-ending
meet is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
