ANNVILLE, PA - The York College women's tennis team dropped at
7-2 decision to Lebanon Valley Monday afternoon at LVC. The Spartan
record falls to 2-8 on the year while the Dutchmen improve to a
strong 16-3.
York picked up both of their wins in doubles play. Megan
Logan (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and
Keturah Buchanan (York, Pa./William Penn) teamed
up to take the second doubles slot 8-5. The pair improves to 2-1 on
the season. In the third flight, Stephanie Nelson
(Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) and Paige Doutrich
(Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) captured the duo's fifth victory
and improve to 5-5 together.
Heidi Acker (Narvon, Pa./Pequea Valley) played
the Spartans closest singles contest in the fourth slot. Acker
forced Sammy Burkey to go beyond the third set into a tiebreaker
before falling 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-0). In the first singles
match, Buchanan narrowly fell to LVC's Sarah Grodzinski 6-4, 7-6
(8-6).
The Spartans next travel to Wesley College on Tuesday, April 8,
for a 2:00 pm Capital Athletic Conference date with the Wolverines.
