YORK, PA-The York College women's swim dropped a 156-101
decision to Misericordia University on Senior Day Saturday
afternoon in York. The Cougars improve to 8-2 overall while the
Spartans fall to 6-6 for the campaign.
The Spartans got their first win of the day when Kaitlin Crean
(Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) won the 1000 freestyle in a time
of 11:56. Alison Beverly (Andover, N.J./Newton) finished second
while Allison Blaszky (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) placed
third.
In the 200 freestyle, Bridget Miller (Wilmington, Del./St.
Mark's) picked up a second place finish with a time of
2:08.57 while Ashley Stanton (Columbia, Md./Hammond) placed third
with a time of 2:10.41.
Sophomore Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring Grove) was the runner up
in the 100 backstroke as she lost by a mere .10 seconds with a time
of 1:05.85.
Senior Laura McCray (Laurel, Md./Laurel) finished second in the
200 fly as she touched the wall in a time of 2:21.84.
Wasik posted another top three finish as she was third in the 50
freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 27.38.
Senior Jen Ehrenreich (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace) placed
second in the 200 backstroke as she recorded a time of 2:30.01.
Junior Colleen Nolan (Annandale, Va./Annandale) finished a strong
third in the 200 breaststroke for the green and white.
Nolan's time in the event was 2:48.07.
Beverly recorded a third place finish in the 500 freestyle,
posting a time of 5:55.47. Miller recorded her second runner-up
finish of the day with a second in the 100 butterfly. Miller
completed the race with a time of 1:06.73.
McCray and Ehrenreich finished first and second in the 400 IM.
McCray's time was 5:11.30 while Ehrenreich's time was
5:21.85.
The Spartans' three 400 freestyle relay teams finished
one-two-three as the Cougars swam the event as an exhibition.
Prior to the meet, the seven Spartan seniors were recognized for
their contributions and accomplishments. McCray, Ehrenreich, Amy
Leatherman (Baltimore, Md./Parkville), Jessie Reick (Mountville,
Pa./Hempfield), Lauren Richardson (Naples, Fla./Naples), Pamela
Tobin (Estell Manor, N.J./Holy Spirit), and Tristen Ziegler
(Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) concluded their home careers with
today's meet. The seniors will conclude their regular season
on Friday night at Ursinus College. The meet in Collegeville, PA is
slated to begin at 6:00 pm.
