YORK, PA-The York College women's tennis squad suffered
an 8-1 setback at the hands of Catholic University on Monday
afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action in York. The
Cardinals improve to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the CAC while the
Spartans fall to 5-3 overall and 1-3 in the league.
The Cardinals swept the three doubles matches by identical 8-4
scores as they took the early lead.
Catholic began the singles portion of the match by sweeping
the first two singles slots, 6-0, 6-0. CUA's Corinne Alcorn
won the third singles spot, 6-1, 6-1 and Catherine Guentert
recorded a three-set win in the fourth singles.
York's lone win came from sophomore Keturah Buchanan
(York, PA/William Penn) as she notched a 6-4, 6-4 win in the fifth
singles match. Maureen Costello closed out the match for CUA with a
6-2, 6-2 win in the sixth singles match.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday when they travel to
Salisbury University to face the Sea Gulls.?
