GRANTHAM, PA-The York College men's
tennis team dropped their second straight as Messiah College handed
the Spartans a 6-3 non-conference loss on Tuesday in Grantham, PA.
The Falcons improve to 8-2 with the win while the Spartans fall to
7-5.
The Falcons swept the three doubles matches to
seize the early advantage. The Falcons won the first doubles 8-6,
the second doubles 8-4 and the third doubles 8-5.
York got on the board with a Tim Mowrer
(Gordonville, PA/ Pequea Valley) victory at first singles as he
defeated Jonathan Stanley 6-3, 6-3. Mowrer has won six straight
matches as he improves to 10-2 for the season at first singles.
Josh Kulp (Souderton, PA/ Homeschooled) earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory
at fifth singles to draw the Spartans to within one at 3-2. Messiah
responded by winning the second and third singles matches to secure
the win. Joel Trimmer (Hanover, PA/Hanover) earned a three set win
over Samuel Shorts at fourth singles to record York's third
win but it would not be enough for the green and white.
The Spartans return to action a week from today
as they travel to Goucher for a CAC contest. The action is
scheduled to kick off at 3:30 pm.
