SALISBURY, MD-The
York College men's tennis team saw their 2007 season come to
an end with an 8-1 loss at Salisbury University in the semifinals
of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament. The Spartans finish
the season with a mark of 10-7 while the Sea Gulls advance to the
tournament championship where they will face the winner of
Friday's Mary Washington / Goucher College match. The Sea
Gulls improve to 16-6 with the victory.
The
Sea Gulls rolled through all three doubles matches as they won each
of the three matches by identical 8-2 scores.
Salisbury won the first three singles matches in
straight sets. They won the first singles 6-1, 6-0, the second
singles 6-2, 6-2, and third singles 6-1, 6-3. The final three
singles matches were shortened due to time constraints as those
three matches featured just one set of play. Salisbury won the

Mansfield (Bartonsville, PA/ North Harford) notched a 6-4 win in the sixth singles
match.
The
Spartans graduate three seniors from this year's team but are
slated to welcome back five of their six singles players and four
of their top six doubles players for 2008.
