SALISBURY, MD-The York College men's
tennis team fell at Salisbury University, 9-0, in Capital Athletic
Conference action on Wednesday afternoon in Salisbury, MD. The Sea
Gulls improve to 14-5 and 6-1 in the CAC while the Spartans fall to
8-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
The
Sea Gulls opened play with an 8-0 win in first doubles. The
followed that with an 8-3 victory in the third doubles before
completing the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win in the second doubles
match.
Salisbury continued to roll with straight set
wins at second singles, fifth singles, third singles, and sixth
singles to take the 7-0 lead. SophomoreTim
Mowrer (Gordonville, PA/ Pequea Valley) extended Brendan Kincaid to three sets before
falling 10-7 in the tiebreaking third set. The loss snaps
Mowrer's seven match singles win streak. The Spartans almost
avoided the shutout as Joel
Trimmer (Hanover, PA/Hanover) lost
11-9 in the third set in the fourth singles match. He fell to Sasha
Felikson 6-3, 4-6, 11-9.
The
Spartans return to action on Thursday when they host Lebanon Valley
in a non-conference contest. The match is slated to start at 3:30
pm.
