TOWSON, MD-The York College women's
tennis squad played their fourth match in three days as a tired
Spartan squad fell to Goucher College 8-1 in Capital Athletic
Conference action on Monday afternoon in Towson, MD. The Gophers
improve to 3-8 overall while the Spartans fall to 4-2 overall and
1-2 in the CAC.
The Gophers downed the Spartans in all three
doubles matches. Goucher won the doubles by the scores of 8-4 in
first doubles, 8-5 in second doubles, and 8-5 in third doubles.
In singles play, the Gophers captured the first,
second, fourth, and fifth singles spots in straight sets. In the
third singles match, the Spartans' Meghan Bedard (Easton,
PA/Wilson Area) battled Stephanie Austin but fell in three, 6-2,
3-6, 6-0. Freshman Megan Logan (West Chester, PA/West Chester East)
earned York's lone win in sixth singles as she defeated
Chloe Scott-Giry 7-5, 6-0.
The Spartans return to action on Friday when
they travel to Wilson College to face the Phoenix in a
non-conference match.
