YORK, PA-The York College women's
tennis squad notched their fourth win in their last five matches
with a 7-2 victory over Hood College on Sunday afternoon in York.
The Spartans improve to 4-1 overall while the Blazers fall to
2-8.
The green and white began the match by capturing
two of the three doubles matches. Junior Erin Dolac (Bangor,
PA/Bangor Area) and Kelly Summers (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown
West) combined to notch an 8-3 win in the first doubles match. The
Blazers won the second doubles match 8-5 but the green and white
bounced back to capture the third doubles point as Meghan Bedard
(Easton, PA/Wilson Area) and Katie Muir (Forest Hill, MD/C. Milton
Wright) posted a 8-6 win in the match.
In the singles matches, Dolac recorded a 6-0,
4-6, 7-5 win in the first singles flight. Heidi Acker (Narvon,
PA/Pequea Valley) rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win in the second singles
match. Hood earned their second point with a straight-set win in
the third singles match. Sophomore Keturah Buchanan (York,
PA/William Penn) earned a 6-4, 7-5 win in the fourth singles while
Paige Doutrich (Gap, PA/Pequea Valley) recorded 6-4, 6-2 win at
fifth singles. Freshman Megan Logan (West Chester, PA/West Chester
East) rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the sixth singles match to
close out the match.
York returns to action on Monday when they
travel to Goucher College to face the Gophers. The match is slated
to begin at 3:00 pm.
