YORK, PA - The York College women's swim team captured
their third victory of the season defeating Elizabethtown
110-90. The win increases the Spartan record to 3-1 (2-1 CAC)
while the Blue Jays drop their second straight and now sit at 1-2.
On the evening, the Spartans garnered six individual wins in
addition to one relay victory in the 200 medley. York also
had six second place finishers in individual events. The final
three races were held as exhibition.
Senior Laura McCray (Laurel, Md./Laurel) nabbed three individual
victories taking the 200 IM, 100 butterfly, and 500 free. McCray
earned her first win of the meet in the 200 IM touching the wall at
2:25.13 edging out teammate Molly Wasik's (York, Pa./Spring
Grove) 2:25.44. McCray timed a 1:06.67 in the 100 butterfly while
Anne McElwee (Wilmington, Del./Concord) finished second at
1:08.73. In the 500 free, McCray timed in at 5:50.41 as
teammate Kaitlin Crean (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) grabbed
the second spot at 5:51.01.
Crean earned her individual win posting a time of 11:53.85 in
the 1000 free. Sophomore Alison Beverly (Andover,
N.J./Newton) took second in the event touching in at 12:13.78.
The green and white picked up two other individual victories by
way of Bridget Miller's (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) wins in
the 100 and 200 free. The junior recorded the 100 victory
with a 58.37 time while earning the 200 win with a time of
2:08.41. In the 200 free, sophomore Allison Blaszky (Stony
Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) nabbed second place touching the wall at
2:09.37.
The 200 medley relay team of Wasik, Pamela Tobin (Estell Manor,
N.J./Holy Spirit), McElwee, and Ashley Stanton (Columbia,
Md./Hammond) earned the Spartans' relay victory clocking in
at 2:03.19.
Wasik also grabbed second in the 100 backstroke timing in at
1:07.54.
The Spartans hit the road this Friday traveling to Millersville
for a non-conference match-up. The meet is set to begin at
6:00 pm.
