YORK, PA-The York College women's swim team split their
Saturday tri-meet as they defeated Gallaudet 79-14 but falling to
Marymount 63-28. The Spartans are now 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the
CAC. The Saints improve to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference
while Gallaudet is now 0-4 overall and in the league.
The meet opened with the 400 medley relay team of Tristen
Zeigler (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville), Pam Tobin (Estell Manor,
N.J./Holy Spirit), Laura McCray (Laurel, Md./Laurel), and Anne
McElwee (Wilmington, Del./Concord) earning one first and one second
with their combined time of 4:31.83.
Sophomore Kaitlin Crean (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde)
earned a first and a second in the 1000 freestyle as she completed
the race with a time of 11:47.86. Teammate Alison Beverly (Andover,
N.J./Newton) earned a second and a third in the same race with a
time of 12:21.67.
In the 200 freestyle, junior Bridget Miller (Wilmington,
Del./St. Mark's) notched a third and a first in the event with a
time of 2:07.50. In the 50 free, sophomore Ashley Stanton
(Columbia, Md./Hammond) recorded a third and a first as she touched
the wall in a time of 27.41. Kristen Leonard (Herndon, Va./Herndon)
followed Stanton with a second and a fourth with a time of 28.07.
McCray recorded yet another first and third for the Spartans,
this one came in the 200 IM as the senior recorded a time of
2:25.32. Sophomore Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring Grove) finished
just behind McCray with a time of 2:29.68. McCray notched a pair of
seconds in the 200 fly as she finished the race with a time of
2:23.73. Fellow Spartan McElwee placed third with a time of
2:40.20.
Miller and Stanton were strong in the 100 free. Miller finished
first and third in the race with a time of 59.80 while Stanton
placed second and fourth, covering the distance in a time of
1:00.19.
Wasik posted a first and a second in the 200 backstroke, posting
a time of 2:24.92 in the race. Crean posted a first and third in
the 500 free as she clocked in with a time of 5:51.59.
Colleen Nolan (Annandale, Va./Annandale) earned a double-win in
the 200 breaststroke as she completed the race in a time of
2:46.74.
The 400 free relay team of Stanton, McElwee, Miller, and Wasik
notched a double win with a time of 4:00.99 in their race.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday evening when they
host Elizabethtown College in a non-conference meet. The meet is
scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
