YORK, Pa. – The York College women's cross country team picked up a second-place team finish on Saturday at their own Coach Achtzehn Classic held at John Rudy Park in York. The Spartans, who finished behind first-place Goucher, collected 43 points to take the runner-up spot out of nine total schools.
Senior Mandy Parshall proved the first Spartan to cross the line as she snagged fourth overall. Parshall recorded a time 24:53.25, securing fourth out of the 91 runners.
Freshman Misty Parshall finished two spots behind her older sister as she ran to a 24:59.35 sixth-place finish.
"Both Mandy and Misty ran well today," Spartan head coach Erick Camodeca said of their performance.
Fellow rookie Jess Miller was the third York runner in the top-ten, traversing the course in 25:25.01 to finish tenth overall. Rachel Berninger, who Coach Camodeca described as "awesome, she stepped up," came in 12th for the Green and White as she posted a 25:31.80.
Nicole Danielewicz, Tuesday Wilson, and Emily Abell ran to 16th-, 17th-, and 18th-place finishes, respectively. Danielewicz ran to a 25:46.81, while Wilson posted a 25:53.65. Abell crossed the line at 25:59.57.
Finishing just outside the top-20, freshman Victoria Hall notched 21st with a 26:14.16.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, September 24, when they travel to the Dickinson Invitational. Start time is slated for 11:00 am.
