Spartans Take Sixth at Competitive LVC Invitational
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The York College women's cross country team ran to a sixth-place finish at the Lebanon Valley Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans, who ran exceptionally well in the competitive meet, collected 167 points to take their sixth-place spot out of the 12 teams in attendance, several of which are among the top squads in the region.
"I am very happy with their performance," Spartan head coach Erick Camodeca said. "Everyone paired off and ran well today. They are learning how to be competitive and run with better teams. Once our legs get fresh and underneath us we will be there by the end of the year."
Misty Parshall and Mandy Parshall provided York with the squad's top two times of the day as the sister-duo finished 19th and 30th overall, respectively, out of the 171 runners in attendance. Misty, in just her first college cross country season, posted a Spartan-best 20:17.14 while Mandy crossed the finish line in 20:39.32.
Two more rookies came in third and fourth for the Green and White at the LVC meet, giving a glimpse into York's outstanding potential. Freshmen Jess Miller and Emily Abell ran 21:08.77 and 21:40.25 times, respectively, taking 49th and 63rd overall.
Nicole Danielewicz collected a 69th-place finish for the York squad as she tallied a 21:47.42. Tuesday Wilson and Victoria Hall came in 75th and 82nd as they crossed the line in 22:01.93 and 22:11.55, respectively.
York returns to action on Saturday, September 17, when they host the 2011 Coach Achtzehn Classic. Start time from John Rudy Park is slated for 4:00 pm.
