Parshall Nabs Third CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete-of-the-Week Accolade

YORK, PA - For a third time this season, York College senior women's cross country runner Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) was named her sport's Capital Athletic Conference Athlete-of-the-Week. Parshall receives the honor on the heels of her fifth top-ten invitational performance of the year.

Parshall's most recent impressive showing came at the Hood Invitational on Saturday, October 17, at Heritage Farm Park in Frederick, Md. Parshall traversed the 6,000-meter course, the site of the 2009 CAC Championships, in 25:46.28. That time provided the senior with a sixth-place individual finish, once again pacing the Green and White, as the Spartans finished third in the 13-squad meet.

Parshall has posted a terrific 2009 campaign. She has placed in the top-ten in each of her invitationals this season while she has captured an individual win, coming in first at the Goucher Classic. Parshall tallied a second-place spot in the first York Invitational as she led the Spartans to one of their three team victories this season.

The Spartans return to action on Saturday, October 24, when they travel to Towson, Md. for their annual dual meet with the Gophers. The event is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
