Parshall Grabs Ninth in York Invitational II

YORK, PA – The York College women’s cross country squad hosted the second York Invitational on Saturday. The Green and White posted a fifth-place finish in their final home meet of the year at John Rudy Park in York.

York’s top finisher proved to be Capital Athletic Conference standout Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) as she registered an individual top-ten. Parshall placed ninth overall in the 83-participant race with a time of 20:51.58.

Freshman Tuesday Wilson (York, Pa./Eastern York), who is quickly adapting to the collegiate stage, finished 22nd on Saturday. Wilson crossed the line at 21:36.05.

Mary Riley (Brookeville, Md./Stone Ridge) and Rebecca Sandrik (Dallastown, Pa./University) finished 38th and 45th respectively. Riley clocked in at 22:32.21 as Sandrik completed the course in 22:59.83.

Spartan sophomore Corie Thompson (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), the 2008 CAC Rookie-of-the-Year, was inactive for the second straight week. Her return to the lineup in future races should bolster the Green and White.

York returns to action next Saturday, October 3. The Spartans hit the road for Reading, Pa. and the Albright Invitational with race time slated for 10:00 am.
