Spartans Compete at Mideast Regionals
BETHLEHEM, PA – The York College women’s cross
country squad completed their 2009 campaign this Saturday,
finishing up the year at the NCAA Mideast Regionals hosted by
Lehigh. As a team, the Spartans finished 29th out of 44 squads.
Senior Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled)
officially closes out her tremendous Spartan cross-country career
after notching a 24:34.7. Parshall led the Green and White once
again, as she completed the course in 110th out of 311 competitors.
Parshall’s career was nothing short of stellar. The senior
nabbed a trio of All-CAC accolades while leading the Spartans for
the past three years.
Tuesday Wilson (York, Pa./Eastern York),
York’s top rookie this season, took 158th in her first
regional meet. Wilson crossed the line in a time of 25:17.0 as she
posted an exceptional freshman season, showing promise of things to
come.
Sophomore Corie Thompson (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) completes
her sophomore campaign with a 25:18.1 time at the regional’s
to garner 160th.
Claudia Hess (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) notched a
26:27.2 to take 209th for the Spartans.
Seniors Rebecca Sandrik (Dallastown,
Pa./University), and Terah Bloemer (Stewartstown,
Pa./Kennard-Dale) also competed for the Spartan
cross-country squad for the final time. Sandrik turned in a 26:35.1
while Bloemer crossed the line at 27:51.4.
Chelsea McCracken (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern)
posted a 28:15.3 for the Green and White.
The Spartans return a majority of their roster from this season
including standouts Wilson and Thompson.
