
GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College
women’s cross country team traveled to Gettysburg College
Saturday afternoon to compete in the Gettysburg Invitational. The
Spartans finished 16th out of 21 squads.
Junior Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled)
continues to be York’s top runner as she was the first
Spartan finisher on the day. Parshall’s time of 24:28.30
placed her 44th among the event’s 233 runners.
Freshman Corie Thompson (Ambler,
Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) captured 46th-place for the green and
white, a mere 2.07 seconds behind Parshall. Thompson continues to
improve as the season progresses and will look to peak at the
Capital Athletic Conference Championships.
Laura Colantuono (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland
Valley), Claudia Hess (Reinholds,
Pa./Cocalico), and Terah Bloemer (Stewartstown,
Pa./Kennard-Dale) posted times of 28:32.82, 29:04.41, and
29:20.34 as each landed in the top-200.
York’s final tune-up before the CAC Championships on
November 1, comes next Saturday, October 25, when they face Goucher
College in a 1:00 pm dual meet.
