MIDDLETOWN, PA – The York College volleyball squad snapped a four match losing streak with a 3-1 Capital Athletic Conference win over Penn State Harrisburg on Thursday night in Middletown, PA.
The Spartans improve to 16-14 overall and 3-4 in the conference. The Lions fall to 5-23 overall and 0-7 in their first season in the league.
The match scores were 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17.
Sophomore Alison Dorsey (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) led the resurgent Spartan offense with 13 kills, two service aces, and a pair of blocks. Dorsey hit .357 for the match. Freshman Ijeoma Igwe (Windsor Mills, Md./Seton Keough) added 12 kills for the Spartans as she hit .273 in the win.
Junior setter Kristin Martinak (Hanover, Pa./South Western) dished out 40 assists while she also had nine digs, two service aces, two kills, and a trio of block assists. Sophomore Cassie Miller (Odenton, Md./Arundel) paced the Spartans' defensive effort with 16 digs while Katy Graziano (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Brittany Hicks (Dover, Pa./York Catholic) each contributed 14 digs.
The Spartans hit .176 for the match while they were much better in service receive as the Lions registered just three service aces.
The Green and White concludes its regular season on Saturday when they host Salisbury University and Franklin & Marshall College in a home tri-meet. York and Salisbury kicks off the action at 1:00 pm followed by F&M and Salisbury at 3:00 pm. York and F&M conclude the day with a 5:00 pm match.
