ST. DAVIDS, PA – The York College volleyball team saw their three-match win streak come to an end as they dropped a pair of matches at the Eastern University tri-match on Saturday. The Spartans fell to Randolph-Macon, 3-0, in the opening match before losing to the fifth ranked Eagles, 3-0.
Against Randolph-Macon, the Spartans fell by scores of 25-17, 25-16, and 25-19. York was paced by the senior duo of Heather Bucher and Julie Coombs as they each had seven kills. Bucher also had five digs, two assists, and a service ace. Coombs registered 13 digs, an assist, and a block assist. Senior Cortni Rentzel had 21 assists and five digs while junior libero Ashley Rineman had 22 digs to pace the Spartan defense.
York hit .053 for the match while Randolph-Macon hit .208 in the win. Randolph-Macon improved to 20-4 with the win.
Against Eastern, the Eagles won by scores of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-18. York was led by Bucher, freshman Katie Huston, and junior Dani Mastroieni as they each had four kills. Rentzel recorded 13 assists while Rineman had eight digs.
The Eagles hit a blistering .379 for the match as they had 48 kills and just 12 errors in 95 attempts. Eastern is now 26-1 for the campaign.
The Spartans fall to 13-15 with the two setbacks.
York returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Susquehanna for a non-conference before returning home for a tri-match against Goucher and Penn St. Berks next Saturday.
