Rineman and Bucher Honored by the CAC
The York College volleyball team had two players earn 2011 All-Capital Athletic Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. Junior libero Ashley Rineman earned first-team accolades while senior captain Heather Bucher earned second-team honors for the Green and White.

Volleyball Drops a Heartbreaker at Stevenson
The York College volleyball squad dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 setback to Stevenson University in the Capital Athletic Conference Semifinals on Thursday night in Owings Mills, MD. The Mustangs, who are the second seed in the tournament, advance to face top-seeded Salisbury in the conference championship game on Saturday.

Since I last wrote a blog the team notched a pair of wins against Penn State Berks and Goucher on a very snowy Saturday. This was a day of mixed emotions for the team. We were happy in our two “W’s” of the day but we were sad knowing this was our four seniors last home game at home.

Volleyball Wins Five Set Thriller at FSU in CAC First Round
The York College volleyball team opened their stay in the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Tournament with a dramatic and exciting 3-2 victory over the defending champion Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD on Tuesday night. The Spartans, who improve to 16-16, advance to face second seed Stevenson University in the tournament semifinals on Thursday.

Volleyball Sends Seniors Off in Style
The York College volleyball team closed out their regular season with a sweep of Goucher College and Penn State-Berks on Saturday afternoon in York. The Spartans beat both the Gophers and Lions in three sets as they sent their four seniors out with wins in their last two matches at Charles Wolf Gymnasium.

Moyer Has a Career Night in 5 Set Loss
The York College volleyball squad dropped a tough non-conference contest at Susquehanna University, 3-2, on Wednesday night in Selinsgrove, PA. The Spartans fall to 13-16 with the defeat while the Crusaders improve to 17-15.

Ashley Rineman Blog #3
Well a lot has happened since my last blog! If you haven’t heard the YCPVB team traveled to Colorado to take on the west!! The team left Thursday night (October 13) at 7:30 en route to BWI to fly out to Denver Colorado! It was very exciting for all of us especially Kristin Martinak and Noelle Bricker. Neither Kristin nor Noelle have ever flown before!

Spartans Drop Pair at #5 Eastern
The York College volleyball team saw their three-match win streak come to an end as they dropped a pair of matches at the Eastern University tri-match on Saturday. The Spartans fell to Randolph-Macon, 3-0, in the opening match before losing to the fifth ranked Eagles, 3-0.

Spartans Close Out CAC Slate With 3-0 Win
The York College volleyball squad concluded their 2011 Capital Athletic Conference schedule with a 3-0 win at Wesley College on Friday evening in Dover, Delaware. The Spartans, winners of three straight, improve to 13-13 overall and 4-4 in the CAC.

Spartans Hold off Bobcats in Key CAC Victory
The York College volleyball squad picked up a must-have 3-2 Capital Athletic Conference victory over the visiting Frostburg State University Bobcats on Wednesday night in Wolf Gym. The Spartans improve to 12-13 overall and 3-4 in the CAC while the defending CAC champion Bobcats fall to 14-16 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Volleyball Splits Pair at Molten Spike It Up Classic
The York College volleyball squad concluded their two-day stay at the 2011 Molten Spike It Up Classic hosted by Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. The Spartans split their two matches for the day, falling to Chapman University 3-1 before downing Webster College 3-0 in their fourth and final match of the weekend.

Spartans Compete at 2011 Molten Spike It Up Classic in Colorado
The York College Spartans opened play in the 2011 Molten Spike It Up Classic hosted by Colorado College. The Spartans dropped both of their matches at the highly competitive tournament, falling to UC Santa Cruz 3-1 in the opener before falling to nationally ranked Colorado College, 3-0, in the nightcap.

Mustangs Slide By Spartans in CAC Tilt
The York College volleyball squad dropped a hard-fought 3-1 Capital Athletic Conference decision at Stevenson University on Wednesday night in Owings Mills, MD. The Mustangs improve to 22-2 overall and 4-1 in the CAC while the Spartans fall to 10-10 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Junior All-Capital Athletic Conference libero Ashley Rineman has agreed to write a periodical blog about the 2011 York College volleyball season. Ashley is a nursing major and is one of the Spartans’ very good students with a 3.46 GPA.

Volleyball Drops Three Set Decision to SMC
The York College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference decision to St. Mary’s College on Thursday evening in York. The game scores were 25-18, 25-18, and 25-18.

Spartans Post Fourth Straight Win
The York College volleyball team picked up right where they left off from Friday with a 3-0 win over Centenary College in the final pool play match of the 2011 York College Spartan Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans have now won four straight as the Spartans improve to 10-6 overall.

Spartans Strong Play Downs Swarthmore
The York College volleyball squad avenged last Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Swarthmore with a 3-0 victory of their own over the Garnet in the second round of the York College Volleyball Invitational at Charles Wolf Gym in York on Friday night. The Spartans, winners of three straight, improve to 9-6 overall while Swarthmore falls to 11-3 for the year.

The women’s volleyball team captured a victory against SUNYIT Wildcats in the first round of the York College Volleyball Tournament. The green and white won in four games by scores of 25-22, 22-25, 27-25, and 25-13. With this win the Spartans improve to an overall record of 8-6.

The York College volleyball squad got back on the winning track with a 3-2 Capital Athletic Conference win over Marymount University on Tuesday night in Arlington, VA. The Spartans won by scores of 25-19, 18-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-10.

Spartans Drop Two at Salisbury Quad
The York College volleyball program dropped a pair of non-conference games at Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans fell to Swarthmore 3-1 (25-10, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17) and to Haverford 3-2 (25-23, 25-8, 22-25, 25-22, 15-10). The Spartans have now dropped three straight as they stand at 6-6 for the season.

Bullets Snap Spartan Win Streak
The York College volleyball squad saw their three match win streak come to an end as Gettysburg College handed the Spartans a 3-0 setback in a Friday night non-conference match in York. The Bullets won 25-12, 25-18, 25-21.

Spartans Notch First Conference Win of 2011; DuMars Records Win #300
The women’s volleyball team capture their first Capital Athletic Conference victory of the year on Wednesday night against Hood College. The Spartans won in three games by the score of 25-10, 28-26, and 25-18. The Spartans’ victory improved them to an overall record of 6-3 and 1-1 in the CAC.

Spartans Capture Two Wins at Dickinson
The York College volleyball squad swept their two matches during the second day of the Dickinson College Red Devil Volleyball Invitational on Saturday in Carlisle, PA. The Spartans blanked Lebanon Valley and the host Red Devils en route to finishing 3-1 for the tournament.

Spartans Split Day One at Dickinson
The York College volleyball squad split their two matches during the opening day of the Dickinson College Red Devil Volleyball Invitational on Friday in Carlisle, PA. The Spartans defeated previously unbeaten Lycoming 3-0 in the opener before falling to University of Michigan-Dearborn in the nightcap.

Spartans Fall in CAC Opener
The Salisbury University volleyball team stayed perfect as they opened Capital Athletic Conference play with a 3-1 victory over the York College Spartans Tuesday night in York. The Spartans fall to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the CAC while the Sea Gulls are now 5-0 and 1-0 in the conference.

Spartans Open Home Slate with Split
The York College volleyball squad opened their 2011 home slate with a split of a tri-meet on Saturday in York. The Spartans downed Elizabethtown 25-20, 25-18, and 26-16 before falling to Westminster in the nightcap, 24-26, 25-21, 25-9, 21-25, and 15-10. Westminster defeated Elizabethtown in five in the middle match on Saturday.

Volleyball Opens Campaign With 3-0 Win at Messiah
The York College volleyball squad opened their season with a 3-0 win at Messiah College on Thursday night in Grantham, PA. The Spartans won by scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-18. York has won the last three season openers against the Falcons.

2011 York College Volleyball Season Preview
After a 27-win season, York College head volleyball coach Sue DuMars enters the 2011 campaign with high expectations. She returns four starters including all-regional selection Ashley Rineman and seniors Cortni Rentzel, Heather Bucher, and Julie Coombs.
