Spartans Set Personal Records at Swarthmore Last Chance Meet

SWARTHMORE, PA. – The Spartan track and field squad had three representatives compete in the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, as seniors Jess DelViscio, Ben Linne, and Ray Smith all had fantastic finished to their Spartan careers. All three runners set personal records in their final collegiate meet.

DelViscio started off the night setting a personal record in the 5,000 meter run by finishing under 18:00 for the first time in her career by posting a time of 17:55. DelViscio became just the fourth woman in York history to break the 18:00 mark in the 5K while also posting the third fastest 5K in school history.

Linne and Smith both set personal records in the 5,000 meter run as well as both broke the 15:00 mark for the first time in both of their careers. Linne finished at 14:46, breaking his personal record by 19 seconds, with Smith crossing the finish line shortly after at 14:52 as the two of them became just the fifth and sixth men in school history to break the 15:00 mark.

DelViscio and Linne's times each put them in first place in the end of year in the CAC rankings in the 5K with Smith finished second in the conference as well. DelViscio also finished first in the CAC in the 1,500 meter run at the end of the year.
