Spartan Women Finish Fifth at Indoor CAC Championships

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The York College women's indoor track & field squad finished fifth at the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Indoor championships hosted by Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.

The Green and White finished with 65 total points as Mary Washington edged them for fourth place as the Eagles totaled 72 points. Christopher Newport won the team championship as they totaled 149 points, easily outdistancing second place Salisbury by 38 points for the title. Wesley finished third with 93 team points.

Saturday's highlights included top three finishes from Jess DelViscio and Alayna De Bruin. DelViscio was the runner up in the one mile run while De Bruin was third in the 3,000 meter run as she narrowly missed on getting a second runner-up finish at the championships.

Saturday's Notes:

Junior Jess DelViscio earned her second career All-CAC award with her second place finish in the mile … she was also second team last year in the mile run … DelViscio also earned a third place finish on Friday in the 5K … Alayna De Bruin finished the weekend with a second place finish in the 5K and a third place finish in the 3K.

The Spartans are now done with their 2017-18 indoor campaign. The Spartans return to action when they begin their outdoor season on Saturday, March 17 when the Green and White heads to Fredericksburg, Virginia to compete at the Mary Washington Open.
