SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College women's track and field team participated in the Susquehanna Crusader Indoor Challenge on Saturday in Selinsgrove, PA.
The Spartans had a number of solid performances as York is now just two weeks away from the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference indoor championships.
In the 60 meter dash, the tandem of Hannah Conway (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Marisa Brisbane (Damascus, Md./Damascus) performed well for the Green and White. Conway recorded a time of 8.51 while Brisbane had a time of 8.67.
The Spartans had a strong showing in the one mile run. Freshman Jess Delviscio (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Bayard Rustin) was York's top finisher as she placed 11th with a time of 5:33.73. Kacey Fogelsanger (Owings Mills, Md./Mercy) finished three spots back of her teammate with a time of 5:34.88. Freshman Alayna DeBruin (Mount Joy, Pa./PAVCS) placed 15th with a time of 5:35.50.
York placed four runners in the top 20 of the 400 meter run led by freshman Jada Griffin-Howard (Cambridgeshire, England/Aclconbury) as she placed eighth with a time of 1:03.88. Sophomore Emily Plante (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) finished 11th with a time of 1:05.76. Sophomore Morgan Jones (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) clocked in with a time of 1:06.31, good for 14th. Sophomore Anne Measley (Highland, N.J./Saint Rose) was the fourth Spartan to cross the finish line as she posted a time of 1:07.18, good for 17th.
Junior Emily Cronise (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) had a good showing in the 800 meter run as she placed tenth with a time of 2:26.81. Freshman Vanessa Blank (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) was York's top finisher in the 200 meter run with a time of 28.35. Conway had a time of 28.67 followed by Brisbane at 29.58 in the event.
The Spartans got a pair of indoor 5K PR's from Kristi Wandzilak (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) and Oriana Howell (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North). Wandzilak placed fifth with a time of 19:45.36 while Howell placed 12th with a time of 20:20.17.
The 4x400 relay squad earned a seventh place finish in their race as the foursome of Cronise, Plante, Griffin-Howard and Jones combined for a time of 4:19.70.
Blank recorded 17th place finish in the 60 hurdles as the freshman posted a time of 10.46.
Sophomore Jen Peters (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) notched a top ten finish in the pole vault with a height of 2.43 meters.
The Spartans return to action next Friday when they return to Selinsgrove for the Susquehanna Invitational. The action is slated to begin at 4:00 pm.
