COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The York College women's track and field team opened the indoor season at the Bow Tie Track Classic hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday.
Freshman Jada Griffin-Howard (Cambridgeshire, England / Alconbury) produced the team's top individual performance of the day as she placed fourth in the 400m dash. Her time of 1:04.19 comes in just narrowly off the indoor school record mark of 1:02.45.
Sophomore Morgan Jones (Pasedena, Md. / Chesapeake) also performed well in the 400m dash as she placed eight with a time of 1:04.19 to open the season. Jones also placed 15th in the 200m dash with a time of 29.40.
Senior Bria Jones (Medford, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) produced York's top-performance in the 200m dash with a 10th place finish at time of 28.96. Freshman Vanessa Blank (East Earl, Pa. / Garden Spot) placed 11th in the 200m with a time of 29.08.
The 4x200m relay team consisting of Blank, Griffin-Howard, Morgan Jones and Lida Shamsaei Gil (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) put together a strong performance to open the season with a fourth place finish. Their time of 1:56.75 comes in just seconds off the indoor school record mark of 1:52.61.
