BETHLEHEM, PA – The York College women's track and field squad participated in the 2014 Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College on Saturday in Bethlehem, PA.
The Spartans got another fantastic performance from freshman Emily Cronise (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) as she won the 800 meter dash, crossing the line in a time of 2:18.99 for the win. The freshman also had a strong showing in the 5,000 meter race as she notched a time of 19:33.66, good for a 15th place finish.
Freshmen Shannon Kuseryk (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) and Kathleen Cannon (Chapel, Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) represented the Spartans with good performances in the 1,500 meter race. Kuseryk notched a time of 5:14.74 while Cannon was right behind her Spartan teammate with a time of 5:15.49.
The tandem of Jenna Roberts (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) and Kasey Fogelsanger (Owings Mills, Md./Mercy) competed in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Roberts placed 12th with a time of 12:28.96 while Fogelsanger notched a 14th place finish with a time of 13:03.18.
The 4x100 relay squad placed fifth as the foursome of Bethany Miller (York, Pa./York Suburban), Bria Jones (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford), Courtney Rice (Frederick, Md./Urbana), and Dana Mangano (Westminster, Md./Westminster) combined to earn a time of 52.19.
Miller tied for tenth in the pole vault as she cleared a height of 3.05 meters. Mangano also finished tenth in the long jump, posting a best distance of 4.87 meters.
The Spartans will take select athletes to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia later in the week. The team will next head to the Paul Kaiser Classic in Shippensburg, PA.
