SELLINSGROVE, Pa. – The Spartan women traveled to Susquehanna University on Saturday for a solid day of competition. Jess Miller (Dauphin, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) also competed at the Armory Collegiate Invite.
Miller opened the weekend up for the Spartan women in New York City with a school record in the 5,000. Miller raced to a blazing 18:19.38 that bested her record braking performance from last week by almost 25 seconds.
At the Crusader Invite, Alicia Dillman (Leola, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) pushed in the mile and earned a time of 5:45.11, which just edged out teammate Jenna Roberts (Stewartstown, Pa. / Kennard-Dale) who ran a 5:47.54. Stephanie Bower (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) ran the 5,000 with a time of 21:03.62 for her indoor best. Caroline DeLany (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) let loose a season best in the 3,000 with a time of 11:00.77. The 4x800 team was able to nab a second place finish with a time of 10:06.03.
For the sprint events, Bria Jones (Medford, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) ran a solid race in the 60 with a time of 8.50. , Emily Cronise (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) ran a tough 400 with a time of 1:03.41 for 8th place. Cronise then turned around and raced the 200 in 28.71.
In the field events, Abbey Rhodes (Hanover, Pa. / Hanover) tossed her way to a 15th place finish in the shot put with a toss of 33-10.75. Amanda Mackey (Whiteford, Md. / North Harford) followed with a toss of 31-3 in the shot. Bethany Miller (York, Pa. / York Suburban) leaped to a 7th place finish in the pole vault with a jump of 9-11.75.
The Spartans return to action for the SU Invite at Susquehanna University on February 14.
