SALISBURY, Md. – The York College women's track & field team finished the CAC Championships in third place overall on Sunday afternoon at Salisbury University. The Spartans finished with 150 points behind first place Salisbury and second place Mary Washington.
Jess Miller (Dauphin, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) had another strong day for the Spartans. Miller recorded her second CAC title, with a win in the 5,000-meter race. She raced to a first place finish with a time of 18:56.22. Nicole Danielewicz (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy) also looked good, coming in close behind Miller with a time of 19:21.72 and earning third place.
Laura Rowlands (Dover, Pa./Dover) also had another great day for the Spartans. Rowlands added another CAC title to her stellar career with a first place finish in the long jump after a leap of 5.23 meters.
In the sprints, Bria Jones (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) had an impressive day. Jones took home a third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.82 and then a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.95.
The Spartans also took home a conference title in the 4x100 relay. The relay of Jackie Gibat (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown), Jones, Rowlands and Miller finished with a time of 51.75.
The 3,000-meter steeplechase saw Jenna Roberts (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) take home a second place finish. Roberts recorded a time of 12:25.15.
The Spartans return to action at 4:00 pm on Thursday for the York Twilight meet at Spartan Track.
