Freshmen Strong at Capital Area Classic
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The York College women's track and field team traveled to Elizabethtown College on Wednesday afternoon to compete in the Capital Area Classic. The Spartans only took a limited number of student-athletes to the meet, as the rest of the team gears up for an upcoming trip to Florida this weekend.
Freshman Bethany Miller (York, Pa./York Suburban) had an all round solid day for the Spartans. Miller had three fourth place finishes. In the 100 meters, Miller ran a 13.62 to secure fourth. She jumped 1.42 meters in the high jump and 2.75 meters in the pole vault for fourth place finishes as well. Miller also competed in the 200-meter dash and came in fifth with a time of 29.01.
In the 800, freshman Jenna Roberts (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) raced strong. Roberts finished in fourth place with a time of 2:30.13.
Freshman, Abbey Rhodes (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) improved upon her throws with a fourth place, 10.45-meter heave in the shot put.
Earning the top finish of the day for the Spartans was freshman thrower Olivia Rehman (York, Pa./Central York). She finished second in the Javelin with a 31.83-meter launch.
The rest of the Spartans return to action this weekend for the Best Western North Florida Invitational. The whole Spartan squad will return to action on Saturday, April 6th for the Green and White Invitational hosted by York.
