YORK, Pa. - Following her performance at the Indoor Terrapin Invitational on Saturday, York College sophomore track & field standout Laura Rowlands has been selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
Rowlands, the reigning CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year, competed in both the triple jump and the long jump at the meet hosted by the University of Maryland - College Park and featuring a majority of Division I student-athletes.
The sophomore registered a 14th-place finish in the triple jump with a total distance of 34' 5.50" as she recorded the second-best result among Division III participants. The long jump, Rowlands leapt a distance of 15' 5.50" to place 19th overall. Once again, Rowlands was second within the Division III realm, as only teammate Jasmine Smith went further with a 16' 1.75" jump as she took 18th overall.
This honor marks the second time this season that Rowlands has been selected as the CAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week. The sophomore was also chosen on December 13.
Rowlands and the Spartans return to action on Saturday, January 28, when they travel to George Mason. Start time is slated for 10:00 am.
