Spartan Women's Tennis Season Comes to a Close
ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College women's tennis campaign came to a close Saturday in the opening round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament as they fell to St. Mary's College 8-1 in St. Mary's City, MD.
The Spartans had just four players available as they had to forfeit the third doubles match and the fifth and sixth singles matches.
The Seahawks improve to 7-8 overall as they advance to face top-seeded Mary Washington in the CAC semifinals on Wednesday. The Spartans close the campaign with a record of 4-11.
The Seahawks seized all three doubles points as they posted an 8-1 win in the first doubles match and an 8-4 win in the second doubles match.
St. Mary's then won the first three singles matches before freshman Mckenzie Krout (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) outlasted Emily Rost with a 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 10-7 win in the fourth singles contest.
The loss closes out the careers of four seniors as Dea Vlahos (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown), Nicole Brown (Brookhaven, N.Y./Bellport), Nikki Olson (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin), and Christina Robinson Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) have played their final matches for the Green and White.
