Women's Tennis Falls in Regular Season Finale

FROSTBURG, MD – The York College women's tennis team closed out their 2013 regular season with a 7-2 Capital Athletic Conference setback against Frostburg State University on Sunday.

The Spartans fall to 4-12 overall and 1-4 in the CAC as they will be the fifth seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament. The Bobcats improve to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the league as they are the fourth seed in the tournament.

In the regular season finale on Sunday, the Bobcats captured the first two doubles matches before the Spartan tandem of Lauren Valles (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) and Emily Skutnik (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) recorded an 8-6 win in the third doubles match.

The Bobcats seized control of the match with wins in the first four singles matches. Emily Price (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) breezed to a 6-2, 6-1 win at the fourth singles match for the Spartans' lone singles win. FSU earned straight set wins in the fifth and sixth singles matches to close out the match.

The two teams will square off again in the opening round of the CAC tournament on Sunday, April 21 in Frostburg, MD. The time of the match will be determined this week.
