YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team closed out their home portion of the 2013 schedule with a 9-0 Capital Athletic Conference setback against #27 University of Mary Washington.
The Eagles improve to 13-4 overall and 4-0 in the CAC while the Spartans fall to 4-11 and 2-3 in the league.
The Eagles swept the doubles matches with a pair of 8-2 wins sandwiching an 8-0 second doubles win.
Mary Washington cruised in the singles matches as they won in straight sets in all six matches. Emily Price (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) played well in the fourth singles match as she dropped her first set in a tiebreaker before falling to Berri Flood.
The match was the final home regular season appearance for senior Megan McCullin (New Windsor, Md./Westminster Senior). McCullin has posted a team-leading seven singles wins this season while she has notched 22 career singles victories.
The Spartans close out their regular season on Sunday morning when they travel to Frostburg State to face the Bobcats in a CAC contest. The match is slated for an 11:00 am start.
