YORK, Pa. – The York College women's tennis team picked up their third victory of the season with a 6-3 triumph over Albright in non-conference action on Friday afternoon in York. With the win, the Spartans improve to 3-5 overall while the Lions drop to 6-3.
The Green and White collected two points during doubles play as the second and third flights each garnered wins. In the second slot, Kacie Weatherhead and Megan McCullin, combining for the eighth time this season, grabbed an 8-2 victory. Arcondia Vlahos and Nicole Olson collected the point at third doubles as they won 8-0.
In singles play, Weatherhead, Vlahos, and Olson each won their matches as did Samantha Brenner. Weatherhead snagged her fourth collegiate victory with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at second singles while Brenner collected won in the fourth spot 6-3, 6-0. Vlahos and Olson, in the fifth and sixth slots, each won in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0-, 6-0, respectively. Vlahos and Olsen lead the squad in singles wins this season as they each have garnered fifth triumphs.
The Spartans return to action Sunday, March 25 when they travel to St. Mary's (Md.) for a 1:00 pm Capital Athletic Conference match against the Seahawks.
