Cardinals Down Spartans in Sunday Match

YORK, Pa. – In their fourth match in as many days, the York College women's tennis team fell 6-3 to visiting Catholic Sunday afternoon in York. With the non-conference loss, the Spartans fall to 8-5 on the season while the Cardinals improve to 13-5.

Spartan rookie Sarah Wargo secured the top singles slot point with a 6-3, 7-6 (1-0) triumph. Wargo's triumph is her seventh of the season as she now stands at 7-6 for her rookie campaign. Each of her 13 singles matches have come as York's #1 this season.

Katelyn Acker snagged her team-best ninth singles win of the 2011 campaign courtesy of a three-set 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 victory. The win improves Acker's junior season mark to a Spartan-best 9-4.

The Green and White continue their busy schedule on Monday, April 11, as they travel to Gettysburg for a non-conference tilt with the Bullets. The match is slated to begin at 4:00 pm.
