YORK Pa. – The Spartan women's swimming team (3-7) swam a tough meet against Rowan University (7-1) on Wednesday, but fell short. The Spartans battled all night but lost the meet 153-100.
Lindsey Buglino (Wharton, N.J. / Jefferson) led the way for the Spartan contingent. For the night, Buglino finished with two first place individual wins. In the 1,000 free, the junior finished with a 11:05.82 to win the event. She also took first in the 200 fly with a 2:21.87 to win by almost a second. Her final turn in the race was a 37.07 to secure the victory. In the 200 IM, Buglino swam a spectacular race to finish in second place with a time of 2:19.95.
In the 100 back, Courtney Dacheux (Dover, Pa. / Dover) swam a 1:13.90 to start her day off with a great swim. Dacheux stepped up again in the 100 free with a first place finish in 56.57. Dacheux's teammate, Susha Stone (Annandale, Va. / The New School Of Northern Virginia), also competed well in the 100 free and finished second with a time of 57.19. In the 50 free, Susha Stone just missed on a first place finish by less than .2 seconds. Stone was able to nab second place with a time of 25.61 to go along with her second place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 1:07.2.
Jenny Hinkle (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) swam a tough race in the 1,000 free and finished just behind teammate Buglino with a time of 11:43.49. Finally in the 200 breaststroke, Kelsie Pike (Newark, Del. / St. Mark's) swam a second place time of 2:40.73.
The Spartans return to action on Friday, January 17 at home against Penn State Altoona and Gallaudet at 6 pm.
