YORK, Pa. – The York College women's swim team took to the water in quad-meet action Saturday afternoon. The Green and White fell to St. Mary's by a score of 125-79, St. Vincent by a score of 134-70, and Dickinson by a score of 141-61.
Among the bright spots for the Green and White was junior standout Lindsey Buglino (Wharton, N.J. / Jefferson). She started her afternoon by placing third in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:17.37. She followed that performance up with a fifth place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2.20.92.
In support of Buglino, junior Courtney Dacheux (Dover, Pa. / Dover) posted a third place finish in the 100 yard freestyle by touching the wall in 56.63.
Junior Casenya Stone (Annandale, Va. / The New School of Virginia) contributed a fourth place finish in the 50 yard freestyle by sprinting to a 25.84. finish.
Aside from the junior class, seniors Megan Murphy (Farmingdale, N.J. / Colts Neck), Kelsie Pike (Newark, Del. / St. Mark's), and Jenny Hinkle (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) put forth valiant efforts in the 200 yard backstroke, 200 yard breaststroke, and 500 yard freestyle, respectively. Murphy's 2:28.22 in the backstroke was good for a fifth place finish. Pike posted a 2:46.23 in her fifth place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke. Hinkle shaved nearly four seconds off her season best time on her way to a seventh place finish in the 500 yard freestyle.
The losses drop the Spartans to 2-5 on the season. They look to get back to winning ways on Saturday November 16 when they host Washington & Jefferson, meet time is slated for 1:00 pm. Prior to the meet, the Spartans will be honoring their five seniors, Murphy, Hinkle, Pike, and Danielle Marino (Wind Gap, Pa. / Nazareth) on the women's side and Matthew Corkwell on the men's team.
