YORK, Pa. – The York College women's swim team fell to the University of Mary Washington Friday night in the York College Natatorium by a score of 200-60.
Junior Lindsey Buglino (Wharton, N.J. / Jefferson) provided a bright spot for the Green and White as she placed second in three individual events. She started her night in the 1000 yard freestyle finishing in impressive fashion posting a time of 11:10.84. She would supplement her distance performance with an exceptional 2:23.45 performance in the 200 yard butterfly. To round out the night she posted an astounding 4:51.71 in the 400 IM.
Buglino got support throughout the night from all across the Spartan roster. Freshman Ashley McManus (Malvern, Pa. / Great Valley) posted a second place 2:05.69 in the 200 yard freestyle. The 100 yard backstroke brought a pair of top three finishers with Megan Murphy (Farmingdale, N.J. / Colts Neck) placing second with a 1:08.64 and freshman Samantha Wingate (Ridley Park, Pa.) finishing with a 1:09.95. In the 100 yard breaststroke, Courtney Dacheux (Dover, Pa. / Dover) contributed a third place 1:14.49. The 50 yard freestyle saw Casenya Stone sprinted to a second place 25.92.
The 2-1 Spartans look to rebound tomorrow when they travel to Marymount for a CAC contest. Meet time is scheduled for 2:00 pm. The Green and White return home on November 9 for a tri-meet featuring St. Mary's, Dickinson, and St. Vincent, that meet is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
