YORK, Pa. - The York College women's swimming team garnered their second and third wins of the 2011-2012 campaign as they posted triumphs against Salisbury, 121-83, and Goucher, 150-51, Friday night in York. The Spartans are now 3-6, and with the Capital Athletic Conference victory over Salisbury improve to 2-3 in league action.
Senior Michaela Guild, junior Chelsea Ross, sophomore Jenny Hinkle, and freshman Courtney Dacheux all gave strong effort towards the win. Guild started the winning off strong for York with a first-place victory in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:16.01. Hinkle placed second with a time of 11:34.35.
Continuing with victories, Ross had a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.42. Guild finished strong in second-place at 2:03.49. Dacheux finished first in the 50-yard freestyle and second in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 25.28 and 57.33, respectively.
Guild and Hinkle finished off strong for the Spartans with first and second-place victories in the 500-yard freestyle with times of 5:33.18 and 5:43.34
The Green and White look to continue their winning streak on Friday December 9, at 6:00 pm against Gallaudet and PSU-Altoona in the York College Natatorium.
