York College is proud to announce that Erin Kurtz has been hired as the first full-time Head Swimming Coach and Director of Aquatics. Kurtz was named to the position after an extensive national search.
York College senior women’s swimmer Michaela Guild captured the 1,650 freestyle title during the final day of competition at the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference Swimming Championships. Guild, who put together a fantastic performance for the Spartans throughout the meet, helped lead the Green and White to 366 points and a fourth-place finish, only the second time York has finished that well in over a decade.
Chelsea Ross and Lindsey Buglino tallied exceptional performances for the York College women’s swimming team on the second day of the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference Swimming Championships. At the conclusion of day two, the Spartans currently stand in fourth place overall with 246.5 points. Mary Washington leads with 622.5 while St. Mary’s (Md.) and Marymount (Va.) have posted 446 and 289 points, respectively.
Michaela Guild and the York College women’s swimming team kicked off the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference Swimming Championships on Friday at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. For their efforts, the Spartans finished day one of the three-day event in fourth-place with 101 team points.
The York College women’s swimming team completed their 2011-2012 regular season slate in winning fashion Saturday afternoon in York, defeating visiting Frostburg 142-66 in Capital Athletic Conference action. With the victory, the Spartans improve 7-8 overall on the season while the Bobcats drop to 3-9.
The York College women’s swimming team fell 112-93 to visiting Rowan University on Monday evening in York. With the loss, the Spartans drop to 6-8 on the season while the Profs improve to 4-0 on the season.
The York College women’s swimming team dropped a 142-120 result to host Ursinus College Saturday to open up the latter portion of the Spartans’ schedule. The loss drops the Green and White to 6-7 on the season, breaking a streak of five consecutive triumphs.
The York College women’s swimming team moved their record back to the .500 mark on Saturday courtesy of a 144-118 win over visiting Elizabethtown. The Spartans’ home triumph boosts their record to 6-6 on the season and marks their fifth-straight victory.
The York College women’s swim team claimed victories over Penn State-Altoona and Gallaudet University Friday night by scores of 122-39 and 127-70, respectively. The Spartans now improve their 2011-2012 mark to 5-6 on the season.
The York College women’s swimming team garnered their second and third wins of the 2011-2012 campaign as they posted triumphs against Salisbury, 121-83, and Goucher, 150-51, Friday night in York. The Spartans are now 3-6, and with the Capital Athletic Conference victory over Salisbury improve to 2-3 in league action.
The York College women’s swimming team suffered a tough Saturday as they fell to Dickinson, Susquehanna, and St. Mary’s (Md.) 132-72, 126-76, and 114-90, respectively. The losses drop the Spartans to a 1-5 record (1-3 CAC) in this young season.

With the loss, just one day after York’s season-opener on Friday evening, the Spartans fall to 1-2 on the season with each of their three results coming against Capital Athletic Conference opponents.
The York College women’s swimming team began the 2011-12 season at home this year squaring up against conference rivals Mary Washington and Hood College. The Green and White concluded the meet with victory over Hood College 104-18 and but fell to Mary Washington 82-40.
