YORK, Pa. - The York College women's swimming squad captured their first wins since November 6, Friday night as the Green and White swam strong earning them a sweep through the competition. The Spartans topped Gallaudet 165-40 and Penn State Altoona 154-48 in York. The Spartans add a win to their repertoire with a record of 4-5 overall.
In the first event of the night the Spartans' 200 medley relay team consisting of Kathy Murphy, Alex Minsky, Lisa King, and Kelsie Pike posted a time of 2:02.94 in the pool to earn them first place in the event.
In the 1,000 yard freestyle, the Spartans nabbed each of the top three spots as the sweep was clinched by Jenny Hinkle at 11:40.43, Alison Beverly at 11:59.12, and Meg Dailey at 12:53.83
Junior Michaela Guild picked up a first place spot in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:03.36.
Sophomore Chelsea Ross swam to a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at a time of 26:65.
In the 200 IM, the Green and White posted the top two times in the pool. The pair of freshmen posted great times in the pool Anna Schuster with a time of 2:23.30 and Hinkle with a time of 2:29.26.
In the 100 freestyle, the Spartans blew past the competition taking the three best times of the night. Guild came in first with a time of 58.04, followed by fellow junior Kate Estes with a time of 1:00.16. Finishing right behind her was sophomore Bethany Moore with a time of 1:02.17.
Adding on to her series of first place finishes on the night, Guild posted a time of 5:34.46 in the 500-yard freestyle.
In another first place finish for the Spartans, Minsky posted a time of 1:16.17 in the 100 breaststroke closely followed by fellow Spartan sophomore Mandy Oldham. Oldham's 1:17.13 gave her a third place finish for the event.
The Spartans finished out the meet winning the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.61 courtesy of Moore, Estes, Ross, and Schuster.
The Green and White need a quick recovery as they return to the Spartan pool on Saturday December 4. York squares off with CAC foe Salisbury and Goucher in a double-dual meet slated for a 1:00pm start time.
